Thank you for your tip! Following an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputies arrested a man yesterday suspected in a fatal hit and run that occurred in May of 2012.

Kenneth Wayne Station, 37, is charged with Vehicul...ar Homicide, Hit and Run and Driving Under Suspension. Deputies responded to a hit and run motor vehicle crash in which an unknown vehicle struck a pedestrian on May 27, 2012 at approximately 11:56 p.m. A concerned resident flagged down patrolling deputies to alert them to a man in a road side ditch in the 7700 block of Hanks Drive. Durell Anthony Ballard, 23, later died as a result of his injuries.

 

Detectives received an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers concerning the suspect and the suspect's vehicle. Detectives located the wrecked vehicle at a local repair shop and were able to match it to vehicle fragments recovered at the scene. Detectives took Station into custody for questioning, and he admitted that he was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Station also told detectives that he did not contact law enforcement due to the fact that he had consumed several alcoholic beverages and had several past DWI arrests. Station was booked on the above listed charges.
